Panasonic Battery is the leading Battery Company in Japan. It has a plant total invested USD90 million in Wuxi. The GM wants the Maintenance and Safety Environmental Manager to control the emission to near zero, though the actual emission rate was in between 10-15 mg/Nm3, which was below the local Environmental Bureau¡¯s limited emission rate (18mg/Nm3).

Reduce the emission to near zero

Analysis

The diameter of the dust is in between 10-0.5um.PTFE-membrane felt is the most suitable filter media. A local knit plant made the original PTFE membrane material and filter bag. The bag was stitched by three-needle machine. The tube seam holes and the bypass leakages of the sewing parts were the main reason for emission.


















Solution

¡¤ Filter media--

ST Filter recommended Donaldson Tetratex Expanded PTFE Membrane on High Tenacity Polyester Felt, Product Code #6214 for this application.

¡¤ Filter bag making--

Needle holes in the vertical seam of a filter bag can be a conduit for fine particulate bleed through. ST Filter can manufacture welded filter tubes, which restrain the fine particle migration through needle holes and the space of the overlapping parts in the vertical seam. Welded seam technology on Polyester PTFE membrane needle felt is another industrial first in China. And in order to minimize the emission rate, ST Filter improved the stitch method on cuff and bottom. (See Below)



















 




















Result

The latest environmental emission monitoring of the replacement bag was 2mg/Nm3 after 10 months operation. It is a figure near to zero emission!
