YunNan province is a main produce area for cigarette industry. DCE envelope filter bags are widely used in the cigarette industry. One of the biggest cigarette plants in YunNan used to use some PTFE membrane filter bags. The filtration efficiency was excellent in the first three months. But the pressures rose rapidly and filter bags loss air permeability after half a year. They found a local dust collector manufacturer (D.C.M.) to solve the problem. The D.C.M. appealed ST Filter to make the replacement bags.

Analysis

The local filter bag plant made the PTFE membrane filter bag for this application. The bag was stitched by three-needle machine. PTFE-membrane polyester felt is suitable for water repellent, but it does not suitable for oil repellent. The tar will separate out from the caporal after a period of time. The tar oil plugs up the pore of the expended PTFE membrane. So the pressures rose fast, the bags loss air permeability soon.

Solution

· Changes the filter material. The tar will separate out from the tobacco after a period of time. The tar oil plugs up the pore of the expended PTFE membrane. Oil and water repellent treatment of the felt gives an excellent ability of oil resistance and reduce the probability of blind. Furthermore, oil repellent felt improves the remove ability of clean.
· Welded tube instead of three needle stitch sewing. The advanced welded technology improves the filtration efficiency.
· ST Filter use circle felt instead of opening felt. Circle felt does not has a gap, so it does not cause dust leak.

Normal felt has a gap, which will cause escape dusts under pressure.

Circle felt do not have gap, gives a excellent seal.

Result

The new filter bags only costs 2/3 of the PTFE membrane filter bags, while the fife time extended to more than 18 months. The end user not saves budget of filter bags, but save manual work for maintenance.
