Komatsu is a famous Japanese company, it has a foundry plant in China. The company has about 8,000m2 of filter area for bag house. ST Filter got the bid to replace all the bags and cages for more than 5 years. The Cupola has a bag house more than 700m2 filtration area. The previous filter bag supplier used Aramid needlefelt for bag making. The bag life was about one year. Due to the two reasons, the end user was not satisfied with the bags:
1, The pick temperature in bag house was about 230 oC, the Aramid filter bags had some shrinkage, the filter material tightly shrink on the cages, so it was not good for dust clean, and difficult to remove the old bags. So they have to change the cages together with the bags.
2, There has some heavy oil burnt in cupola when it start to work, which caused blind on filter material.

Due to the cost reason from customer, ST Filter did not recommend P84 felt. ST Filter designed a new special filter material for this application:
Fiber: Aramid fiber at 400g/m2
Scrim: Fiber glass 150g/m2
Surface treatment: Water/Oil repellent, glazed, 220 oC heat setting for 10 minutes.
The continues temperature resistance of Aramid is 204 oC, pick 220 oC
The pick temperature of Fiber glass scrim withstands 280 oC, so the finished filter material was supported by the fiber glass scrim, which can avoid the shrinkage from scrim.

Result:
1, The new replacement filter bags successfully running for more than 2 years.
2, The shrinkage performance of the filter bags were much better than the old bags, easy for dust clean and replacement.
